The City Council reviews all proposed ordinances or amendments to existing ordinances in the City of Alton, reviews and approves an annual budget of City departments, reviews and approves all expenditures and bid awards of the City, reviews all proposed policies of the City, authorizes the execution of contracts, and gives advice and consent to the Mayor on nominees to City Commissions, Committees, Boards, and Department Head.
